ABOUT OUR PHILANTHROPY

Arthritis

Alpha Omicron Pi’s international philanthropy is arthritis, and our philanthropy partner is the Arthritis Foundation. Since 1967, members and chapters have raised millions of dollars to fund research, provide resources, and support those affected by arthritis, a disease that disproportionately impacts women and also affects children.

AOII’s philanthropy dollars support several impactful Arthritis Foundation initiatives, including the Juvenile Arthritis Power Pack program, Juvenile Arthritis Camps, the Juvenile Arthritis Family Summit, and the 24/7 Helpline. Our Canadian sisters proudly support The Arthritis Society of Canada, furthering our shared mission to fight arthritis and improve lives.

OUR Local Efforts

We are honored to support “Sisters for Soldiers''. Living in North County San Diego every single one of us knows somebody in the military or who served in the Armed Forces. Whether it is a parent, grandparent, relative, sibling, significant other or friend, it affects all of us. We raise funds during our Alpha Male sweetheart contest, which are donated to a local non-profit organization, which serves active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families.

Recently one of our sister's was diagnosed with a life-threatening immune system disorder. When we received this devastating news, we were inspired to partner with NMDP (formerly known as Be The Match) and host a U-Hour drive to register potential bone marrow donors. Through this event, we successfully signed up many new donors, offering hope and healing to those in need. We have continued to host swab-collection events each year since. We are excited to share that our sister matched with a donor and recently celebrated her two-year “re-birthday.” We are so grateful for her recovery and beyond happy that she is here with us today.

Giving back is truly at the heart of AOII. For us, philanthropy is about more than supporting a single cause—it’s about making a real, lasting difference. Together, we can raise awareness, support our military and our sisters, and help create meaningful change.
